The Vintovka Snayperskaya Spetsialnaya (Special Sniper Rifle) , or VSS or VSS Vintorez (thread cutter) as it is more commonly known, is a integrally suppressed sniper rifle that is chambered to fire a heavy subsonic or armor piercing 9x39mm round. Primarily issued out to Russian Spetznas and for undercover or clandestine operations, the VSS has seen significant use since its adoption during the late 1980s. From Afghanistan to Chechnya and everywhere in between the VSS has provided close range sniper support for Russian forces.

The IGOR is Echo1’s latest addition their Red Star series of airsoft guns. The IGOR uses a full metal receiver and mock suppressor with reinforced polymer furniture to make the gun feel very solid, yet fairly lightweight. The mock suppressor covers the 428mm tight bore inner barrel gives this airsoft sniper rifle excellent range given its compact size. The most striking feature of the IGOR is its skeleton stock. It gives the airsoft gun a unique profile and provides excellent support when aiming down your sights. The rubber stock pad gives added user comfort when shouldering the gun and can be removed to install the IGOR’s battery. The overall control layout is fairly similar to airsoft AKs or SVDs – just in a significantly smaller package. The magazine release is ambidextrous, the selector switch audibly clicks into each fire mode and the iron sights can be adjustable for elevation.

Internally the Echo1 IGOR uses a modified version 3 gearbox with 7mm steel gears and bushings. Even through the gearbox is modified, it will be version 3 compatible. This means this sniper rifle will have a lot of aftermarket support for repairs or upgrades. Echo1 pre-upgraded the gearbox to make it LIPO ready right out the box. The IGOR uses a 428mm tight bore barrel, coupled with the addition a Madbull blue bucking, which increases accuracy and range.
