Developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov after World War II in the Soviet Union, the AK-47 – or Avtomat Kalashnikov 1947 – was designed to meet the Soviet military’s need for a fully dedicated assault rifle platform. It is one of the most popular systems in the world due to its ease of manufacture and it’s astounding simplicity, durability and reliability – even in the most adverse of conditions.
The Double Eagle Tactical AK47 RIS is based off of more modern AK47s that are being used by smaller militaries and private military companies. The AK utilizes a more tactical looking, side-folding, full metal stock that locks on to the right side of the gun. The body of the AEG features a lower receiver made out of ABS plastic with a metal receiver top cover. Making the gun very lightweight. Unlike most AK47s, that come with wood or imitation wood hand guards, Double Eagle changed them out for a plastic hand guard with metal picatinny rails. Ideal for airsoft players who want to add attachments to their gun – such as the foldable vertical that is included in the box. The pistol grip on the Tactical AK has finger grooves to make it easier and more comfortable to hold.
